about bri

photography found me when I was just a kid. I stole my family camera every chance I got until my dad was tired of worrying that I would break it and bought me a plastic camera of my own. to this day the desk in my parent’s house is full of prints and negatives from my childhood through high school. I’ve never been without photography in my life. it’s the way that I see the world and how I communicate my experiences. it’s my love and my work.

I am a midwesterner through and through. I’ve lived in 4 different states all around the midwest and have only fallen more in love with it as I’ve experienced more of it and the people in it. the midwest gives me endless sources of inspiration and formed my style of running around abandoned and outdated places for most of my formative years.

my style can usually be described as grungy, documentary, and editorial. I lean pretty heavily into grainy, blurry, or flash photos, sometimes a combination of the three. I have found that telling the story of my clients truly happens in these non-perfect moments that represent our non-perfect life.

you can bet that there will be a mix of film and digital photography when I am running around a studio, session, or wedding. the documentarian nature of my work means that I use a medium that to me fits the feel of the moment.

personally, I am based in MN with my wife and our three fur children. I love iced coffee dates, binge reading books, and traveling with my wife. I have a bunch of niblings and god kids that I adore and that give so much joy to my life.
